If you are a fan of games from Exploding Kittens, the chances are that you have had a burrito or three bounce off your head; no, not a real one (although I can’t be certain that you haven’t), a foam or inflatable one from the very popular Throw Throw Burrito dodgeball card game. The hilariously chaotic Throw Throw Burrito is a game that we love playing, and now Exploding Kittens have added an expansion pack to allow you to block those flying burritos with tortilla shields in Block Block Burrito.
Block Block Burrito is an expansion pack for the Throw Throw Burrito and Throw Throw Avocado party games, and you do need to have one of these games to play it. It expands on the original games of the art of dodging squishy projectiles by adding in the ability to defend yourself against your most trusted friends and family lobbing foodstuff at you.

The Throw Throw games are dodgeball-like party card games for 2-6 players aged 7 years upwards. With a playing time of around 15 minutes and are perfect for family game nights as well as grown-up game nights. The aim of the game is to win points over two rounds whilst having to avoid airborne food missiles in the form of soft and squidgy foam burritos or avocados. Add in Block Block Burrito and you can defend your honour (and your face) with inflatable Tortilla Shields, new rules and six new battles in the ultimate “food fight”.
Block Block Burrito is an expansion pack, so you do need to have Throw Throw Burrito or Throw Throw Avocado to be able to play it. This expansion pack is supplied with 72 Battle Cards – 36 Battle Cards for each version of the game.
To play your favourite Throw Throw game, we have Throw Throw Burrito, the game is set as according to the instructions of the Throw Throw game but the original 36 Battle Cards are removed and replaced with the new deck of 36 cards from the expansion pack. The gameplay is simple yet brilliant. Players draw cards, trying to get sets of three to earn points, all while keeping an eye out for the dreaded Burrito Cards. When these cards are played, it’s every player for themselves as they grab the nearest burrito and launch it at their opponents. But playing with the Block Block Burrito expansion pack, now gives you more of a fighting chance to block those incoming fake comestibles with your trusty Tortilla Shields.
Playing with the Block Block Burrito expansion pack allows players to block burritos or avocados thrown at them during battles – if you deflect a throwable and it hits another object it is a miss. If you deflect it and it hits another player it counts as a hit.
Overall, the Block Block Burrito expansion pack adds in another brilliant level of playability to an already fantastic game. It keeps the same game play as the original game, just with some new rules and battles, but now you have the ability to block those flying burrito attacks.
It is a very simple game to set up and play. You will need a room with a bit of space to play, making sure that you remove any breakables in case of a stray flying burrito, and now a deflected burrito off a tortilla.
The battles are great and the ability to defend against flying burritos/avocados is excellent fun.
The layout of the internal of the box is perfect, everything in its own place, easily accessible and the game even comes with repair patches should you manage to puncture your tortillas with some overexuberant blocking and deflecting.
Block Block Burrito is an superb addition to an already great party game that can be played by children, families or grown-ups. Players will have fantastic fun dodging and blocking burritos. The addition of the inflatable tortilla shields takes the dodgeball card game to a new level.
A wonderfully fun, and sometimes energetic, party game.
