- Instructions
Squishmallows Take4 is a card game with 16 different Squishmallows in the game. The object of the game is that players must try to collect 4 different squad members. But watch out – if you try to grab the same one as another player, you both have to race to grab the mini Benny The Bigfoot plush in order to claim the card.
The Squads and Squishmallow members are:
- Classic Squad – Cam, Lola, Malcolm and Winston
- Fantasy Squad – Leonard, Michaela, Patty and Tatiana
- Food Squad – Carl, Chanel, Floyd and Maui
- Sealife Squad – Archie, Gordon, Sheldon and Stacy
Before the fun can be begin, your need to set up the game. This is a simple process. Assemble your players. Take the number cards out of the deck. Place one set of number cards (1, 2, 3, 4), number side up, in a line in the centre of the table. Give each player their own set of number cards. Shuffle the Squad Cards and draw 4 from the top of the deck. Place 1 Squad Card, face up, next to each one of the number cards. Finally, place the Benny the Bigfoot Squishmallow plush in the centre of the table, within easy reach of all the players.
With the quick and simple set up complete, it’s time to play. Each player must now try to collect a full set of one of the Squads, one of each member. As there are four cards of each member, players can go for the same Squad as another player if they wish to.
To start the game, all players must count down from 3 together. Once the count hits 1, players put one of their number cards from their hand face up on the table in front of them (this relates to a Squad member they want to collect on the cards in the middle of the table on the same number).
All straightforward so far. With all the players having put down their number card, 2 things can happen:
- If you wanted Squad member on number card 3 and you put down your number 3 card, as long as nobody else put down a number 3 card then that Squad member card becomes yours.
- If one or more of the other players also put down a number 3 card, then all players that put down the number 3 card race to grab hold of Benny. The first person to grab him wins that Squad member card.
After each round has finished (number cards put down and Squad member card taken), the centre playing area is reset. Any remaining Squad cards are removed and placed at the bottom of the deck and new ones placed on the number cards. Players pick up their own number card and place it back into their own hand. If Benny was grabbed, he is placed back in the centre of the table.
Play continues in this fashion until a player gets completes their squad cards all four different Squad members and is declared the winner.
Overall, Squishmallows is a fun little game for children and families. It is fast and easy to play, and a bit of strategic thinking even comes into play. Depending on how the cards fall you might not always need one of the Squad cards on display but if you are paying attention to the other players you can try and go for one they need to try and slow them down and stop them from completing their Squad set before you do.
This is a nice and simple, uncomplicated game that kids will love, especially if they are Squishmallows fans (although they don’t need to be), and it is great for some excellent family game time.
The rules are simple and easy to understand. Game play is easy and the cards are good quality, bright and colourful with some excellent illustrations of the Squishmallows. Benny the Bigfoot is soft, cuddly and squishy, well-constructed and looks great in his little beanie hat. Benny is a bigfoot and one of the smartest creatures in the world!
Whether you love Squishmallows plush toys or not, this is a game of fun and laughter. The race to grab Benny can sometimes be a bit frantic but other than that it is a nice relaxing game for all the family to enjoy. And Benny is standing up to all the grabbing (and pulling).
A pleasant game that kids and families will enjoy playing.
