Sneak Peek

Fancy something quick to play? What about a fast-paced memory and reaction game where only a quick mind, eagle eyes and fast fingers can help you win? Imagine a game so intense, it’s like the lovechild of a hyperactive squirrel and a ninja on a caffeine buzz. That’s Sneak Peek for you!

Sneak Peek is a memory, matching and reaction card game. It is a set of 64 game cards that come in a small metal tin that could always be watching you like a hawk with its one eye (it has an eye on the tin lid so it might be). Due to its small size, it is also a perfect travelling game, a game that can be played anywhere. Sneak Peek is a ‘pick up and play’ game for 2-4 players, aged 5+, with a quick gameplay of around 10 minutes.

In the box:

  • Sneak Peek Metal Card Storage Tin
  • 64 Game Cards

The 64 game cards are circular and feature different symbols and colours on them. As a memory and matching game it is very similar to the popular and timeless card game Snap!

Sneak Peek has two games to play and players need eyes like a hawk, the reflexes of cat and the memory of an elephant.

Game 1: the cards are shuffled and placed face down on the table. The oldest player gets to go first. The starting player turns over the top 3 cards, placing them face up on the table. If they are a match (colour, symbol or both) then that player keeps them and turns over another 3 cards. If there isn’t a match all the players have a few seconds to memorise what is on the cards and where they are on the table, before they are all turned face down on the table, in the same place.

Play then moves on to the next player (going clockwise around the table) and it is now their turn to flip over 3 cards – these cards can be new ones from the deck or the ones that have already been played. If that player can match 3 cards, they keep them, if not everyone memorises them and they are placed face down with play continuing.

The game continues in this fashion until the entire deck has been played and all cards have been matched or all the players have played a turn each once the deck has all been turned over and no more matches made. The winner is the player that has matched and collected the most cards.

Game 2: game 2 is called Sleek Seek. This time the youngest player gets to start first and the cards are turned over one at a time, not the three as in game 1. The first person to see matching cards must shout “Seek” and take the 3 matching cards (if two or more players shout at the same time those cards are removed from play and no one gets them). Play continues until all the cards are face up on the table and the game ends when no more 3 card matches can be made. As in game 1, the winner is the player with the most cards.

Overall, we have loved the speed, easiness and simplicity of Sneak Peek. We all really took to it and the quick gameplay. The rules are simple. It is a fun memory and matching card game unlike others that we have played before. It quick, easy and can be played anywhere – it really is ‘pick up and play’.

For us, we thought that game 1 was the better of the two playing modes and definitely more exciting. It is an inclusive game for all age groups and the children aren’t at any disadvantage. Perfect for kids, families, adults, and adults who act like kids. It’s a family-friendly battle royale where grandma can show the kids who’s boss.

Sneak Peek is an excellent addition to any game shelf and is also an ideal travel game. It is perfect for quick play and filling small chunks of time, especially when other games will take just far too long at the end of a busy day. It is good quick fun and is perfect for keeping the kids off their screens!
