Welcome Potterheads and Dobble fans. We love playing the fast observation matching game of Dobble and now it has been combined with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – two smash-hits become one for some excellent fun family gaming in Harry Potter Dobble.
Harry Potter Dobble is a card game that the whole family can play and if you are a Potterhead (a fan of Harry Potter), it’s even better. It is a card game that is suitable for 2-8 players, aged 6+ and has a playing time of approx. 15 minutes. Harry Potter Dobble is a game of observation, speed and matching, a game very similar to Snap, but much more challenging and lots more fun.
Harry Potter Dobble comes in a circular tin that contains 55 circular Dobble cards. The cards each feature 8 symbols, characters and images, from the wizarding world of Harry Potter and Hogwarts. It has five mini-games in one tin that you can play, but they are all variations on the same theme. Are you observant and fast enough to spot the one magical matching image on the cards and be victorious?
- The wizarding world of Harry Potter meets the smash-hit game of speedy observation
- Spot the single matching magical image between two cards in a playful battle of speedy observation
- Features imagery of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Hedwig, wands, creatures, Hogwarts house crests and more
- In Dobble there is always only one matching symbol between any two cards. Spot it first and you win
- 55 cards, five quick party games, for 2 to 8 players. Ages 6 to adult
It’s time to dabble with Dobble (which means double). Dobble is a similar game to the classic card game, Snap but each of Dobble’s 55 cards has eight different magic Harry Potter symbols on it but, between any two cards, there is always exactly one matching symbol. Across a variety of mini-games, the aim is the same – be the first person to spot the match and call it out! Test your reflexes and your keen eye.
Each card has symbols that you will recognise from the Wizarding World of Hogwarts, Harry Potter and his Gryffindor house – including your beloved characters, wands, Hogwarts house symbols and magical creatures – but the match can be surprisingly difficult to spot! The size and positioning of the symbols can vary on each card, so you’ll need to pay close attention if you’re going to call out the answer quickly. It is a game of speed and observation which tests your visual perception, pattern recognition, and reflexes.
There are five mini games to play all based around observation: The Tower, The Well, Hot Potato, The Poisoned Gift and Triplet.
Overall, I found Harry Potter Dobble to be an enjoyable and interesting game. It is lots of fun and quick to play! Essentially a game of Snap, it is a much more enjoyable and challenging improvement. And the Harry Potter theme makes it more engaging, especially for fans of HP as they try to spot their favourite magical characters and items. It is one of the very few games that can be played by adults and children at the same time, without either age group being at a disadvantage and no adaptations needing to be made to level the playing field.
Game play is quick with a typical game lasting around 15 minutes, but you can play more rounds to extend the playing time. One round just won’t be enough! Play 3, 5 or 10 rounds – it’s your choice! But no matter many you decide to play, you will have plenty of finding and matching fun.
Fill the Well was our favourite of the five games to play, just because it is fast, fun and furiously competitive. The aim of Fill the Well is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. That said, we have enjoyed ALL five games as they all had something slightly different.
Harry Potter Dobble is supplied in a nice and compact tin with a secure lid. This makes it an ideal travel game for taking and playing almost anywhere. It will fit nicely in your bag or to keep in the glove box of the car. It is a great size for taking camping, to the beach or even on a train journey. All you need is a flat surface to play on and a few spare minutes to play and enjoy the fun. Whilst it is a fairly deep tin, the cards only take up about half the available space.
Harry Potter Dobble has a simple concept with easy to understand rules – just find and match the symbols as quickly as possible. A game that is easily learned in less than 30 seconds. It is lots of fun for children, teenagers and adults of all ages, with the added bonus that everyone can play equally as well together. Dobble is a game that encourages concentration, observation skills and speed. Whilst it is a simple game, it is also challenging trying to spot those matching symbols before other players.
A compact magical game that is BIG on fun and can be played anywhere!
