Easter is an important time in the Christian calendar, but whether you celebrate it for its religious aspects or not, Easter is also a time for family, fun, and chocolate (and don’t forget 2 weeks off school). However you celebrate Easter it doesn’t always have to involve chocolate eggs and sugar highs. With two weeks off school, for those looking to engage the kids in an activity that’s both entertaining and enriching, at home escape rooms offer a fantastic alternative – and are much more rewarding and much better value for money than an Easter egg. The Great Easter Escape weaves teamwork, problem-solving and storytelling into an Easter-themed immersive puzzle that’s perfect for the holiday season. Let’s get ready for the Great Easter Escape from Paper Adventures – who knew that you could have so much fun with paper apart from picking up and reading a good book of course?
Paper Adventures create award-winning escape game kits that can be printed at home (or purchased pre-printed and posted) for an immersive experience the kids will love. They are perfect for birthday parties, holidays or even game nights. We have tried some of the games in the past and with Easter approaching have got onto the Easter spirit and played the Great Easter Escape.
The Great Easter Escape at-home escape room is an escape room for kids age 6-12 years old with a playing time of 60 minutes. It requires 2 or more players and an adult Game Master. The Game Master is required to set up the puzzles (set up takes around 30 minutes) and they also help to guide the game. It is available in 3 editions:
- Print-at-home Edition: Immediate download after purchase for you to print at home and play.
- Delivery Pack Edition (UK Only): Printed version sent to you directly in 2 to 4 working days.
- Delivery Xtra edition (UK Only): Printed version with extra fun escape goodies for the ultimate Easter experience for your players.
The Great Easter Escape is an escape room puzzle based around an immersive story. The story is that you and your friends have won tickets to the world famous Easter Bunny Tour. But as you arrive, something is wrong: the Easter Bunny has gone missing. And the new Easter Robot is out of control, causing all sorts of mischief. Can you save Easter in time?
In the pack you will find a Game Master Book for the adult (Set up and How to Play Guide), A4 pages of puzzles, puzzles, posters and certificates. If you purchase the print-at-home edition you will receive an email link to download all the files to print them yourself (including a full colour version as well as a low-ink version). The delivery packs have everything already printed (on good-quality paper) and packed in a folder to keep it all together neatly.

Before play can commence, the Game Master will need about 30 minutes to set it up – clues need to be cut out. It isn’t difficult to set up and the Game Master Book clearly lays out everything that needs to be done in a very easy to read and understand way (or you can scan the handy QR code and watch the set up video). You will need to provide some scissors, pencils and glue to play the game.
Once the set up is complete, grab the kids, sit them down, read out the introduction letter that sets out what needs to be done and start a 60 minute timer (you can scan the QR code that takes you to a YouTube countdown clock video or set a timer on your smart speaker etc.). The aim is to find the Easter Bunny, stop the Robot 3000 and save Easter.
While playing, the Game Master will use the Game on a Page sheet to guide the game along and help the kids if need be.
The game is played over 6 chapters of a story and the players will need to solve a series of puzzles from finding the correct key to open a shed (it could be Heidi’s or Harry’s, Sonia’s or Susie’s, or one of the other 16 names on the page) to hunting eggs. The Game Master will read out the story when necessary and provide help and clues when needed.
Overall, the Great Easter Escape is a fun immersive story with challenges and puzzle-solving that kids will get fully engaged with and have a great time playing (more so when the Game Master adds in their Easter Bunny voice to read the story). The game is designed to be played in about 60 minutes, making it a perfect Easter holiday activity for the kids and their friends.
The story, combined with a series of clues that puts a variety of skills to the test, including origami, decoding and maths skills, is a fun game with some great educational aspects (got to keep their education up to scratch even while not at school). The puzzle-solving is perfect for encouraging teamwork and communication.

The puzzles and clues are reasonably challenging (aimed at 6-12 year olds); they are not too hard but are also not so easy that the game is boring. The clues needs to be solved in order before the story can move on (and the Game Master is always on hand to give a gentle push in the right direction if required). We loved that the puzzles are varied and engaging, they have been cleverly designed to fit into a story and advance the story.
And for the eco-friendly among you, with the delivery option everything is printed on paper so can be recycled. The digital download print-at-home version comes with an ink-saving version available – and to further its eco-friendly credentials every purchase supports planting trees (in partnership with tree-nation) in key areas affected by deforestation .
The Great Easter Escape a brilliant age-appropriate, fun and challenging puzzle game that is very engaging and immersive. The kids can enjoy the thrill of an escape room at home during the Easter holidays. It is a game that promises laughter, teamwork, and a memorable Easter adventure.
