In the wild world of trivia card games, there’s a fox with a ginger coat with a penchant for chasing! Don’t worry, there’s no need to lock your doors and windows! While I love those ginger omnivorous mammals with their triangular ears and pointy snouts, I’m actually talking about Ginger Fox Games Beat The Chasers Trivia Quiz Card Game, the game that’s taking living rooms by storm faster than you can say “I’ll take the higher offer, Bradley!”
Beat The Chasers is a trivia card game based on the hit ITV show. For 3 or more players, age 14+, it has a playing of around 20-30 minutes and makes use of an online digital timer (although you can play without this if you have no access to the internet). The box contains 70 cards.
In the box:
- 59 Double-sided Question Cards
- Spinner Card
- Digital Timer QR Code
- Button Card
- 5 Offer Decks (4 card for each offer)
- Super Offer Card
- Rules Cards
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. This game is not just a test of trivia; it’s a race against time. You’ve got to be quick with the facts and faster with the buzzer. It’s like being on the actual TV show, but without the fear of the bright studio lights or The Chaser’s intimidating glare. And the best part? You can play in your pyjamas.
It is a very portable game, it is not much larger than a standard deck of cards, making it an ideal travel game. It is also simple enough to play. You select an offer from The Chasers, scan a QR code (yes, very high-tech), and bam! You’re in a head-to-head battle with the clock. Answer questions correctly, and you freeze your timer, but get them wrong, and watch your chances slip away like sand through an hourglass.
This came comes with 5 offer decks and the number of players decides how many you use. In simple terms you use one less deck than the number of players. This is a game for 3 or more players, so for example, if three people are playing you would use 2 decks, if 6 people are playing you would use all 5 decks.
To play, you need to separate the question cards into red and blue decks and place them in the centre of the table / playing surface. Lay out the correct number of offer decks. Cut out the spinner card and poke a pencil through the centre. Grab a pen and paper to keep track of scores. Set up your phone or tablet for the timer (you can play without a digital device, there are different rules for this). Now you are ready to player and try to beat The Chasers! Not physically, just mentally and intellectually.
The starting player takes the top card from each of the offer decks and then spins the spinner in the hope that the can win a Super Offer. The offers have a cash value and the player chooses the one that they want. Scan the QR code to launch the digital timer and select the time that matches the chosen offer.
The other players will act as The Chasers and try to answer the questions. The player asks The Chasers the red questions, Chasers ask the blue questions. Questions are read out until a correct answer is given and then the timer button is pressed on your phone and then the questions switch to the opposing player(s). When the timer runs out, the round is finished. After a set number of rounds (decided before the game starts), the one with the most cash is the winner!
Overall, the Beat The Chasers card game is a great trivia game. And it doesn’t always mean the person with the greatest trivia knowledge or who is just a fantastic trivia whiz is always going to win. It’s not just about what you know; it’s about how you handle the pressure. Will you crumble like a cookie in a toddler’s fist, or will you rise like a phoenix from the ashes of your opponents’ wrong answers? The added time pressure of the countdown timer can do wonderful things to your brain and mouth and getting them working together.
If you love trivia games, you will love Beat The Chasers card game. The questions are wide and varied and will suit all members of the family. So, gather your friends, family, or even your arch-nemesis, and get ready to beat The Chaser, one card at a time. As well as answering the questions correctly, the fun lies in the thrill of the chase.
A fun little trivia game that can be played anywhere. We loved it.
