As the long school summer holidays creep ever closer, parents and guardians everywhere brace themselves for that familiar chorus of โIโm bored!โ echoing through the house. Six long weeks of keeping the kids entertained can feel like a marathon, whether youโre staying at home or heading off on a family break. Thatโs why now is the perfect time to start lining up activities that are fun, engaging and, ideally, portable. Board games have always been a reliable goโto for families, and when they come in compact travel sizes they become even more valuable. In our house, trivia and quiz games have always been a favourite, but the problem is that most of them skew too far in one direction: either the questions are too difficult for the kids, or theyโre so simplified that adults lose interest. Thatโs why discovering Family Quiz Night from Cheatwell Games felt like striking gold. Itโs designed specifically for kids and adults, with questions tailored to each age group so everyone can genuinely compete. And now, with Travel Family Quiz Night, you get the same brilliant experience in a smaller, suitcaseโfriendly package.
Travel Family Quiz Night is a trivia game built with quizzing inclusivity at its core. Designed for two to four players or teams and recommended for ages eight and up, it cleverly levels the playing field over standard quiz games by offering different questions for different age groups โ not with different cards to keep track of, but on every card. Younger kids get their own set of questions complete with multipleโchoice options, older children and teens get the same questions but without the choices, while adults receive entirely different, more challenging questions with no multiple-choice options. This simple but effective structure means that everyone, from younger children (8 years old upwards) to seasoned quizโloving grownโups, can play together without the game feeling unfair or unbalanced. The aim is straightforward: answer questions from a selection of eight different categories (decided by where you land on the gameboard) and move your playing piece from the outer edge of the board to the centre to reach the finish.
In the box:
- 8 Decks of Questions Cards (216 Cards / 432 Questions)
- Playing Board
- 4 Playing Tokens
- Die
- Rules

Setting up the game is refreshingly simple. The gameboard itself is compact, roughly 20ร15cm, but the space is used efficiently, with question spaces spiralling inward toward the centre finish space. Each player or team selects a coloured token and places it on the starting point. The question cards are sorted into their 8 individual categories and placed face down in neat piles, ready to be drawn from during the game. Despite its small size, the board is clear, tidy and easy for all players to reach, making it ideal for travel tables, hotel rooms or even a picnic blanket in the park or garden.
Question Categories:
- T.V.
- Movies
- Geography
- History
- Music
- People
- Science & Nature
- Pot Luck
Gameplay begins with the youngest player or the kidsโ team rolling the die. The die only includes the numbers 1, 2 and 3, which keeps movement tight and the game flowing at a steady pace (and not racing ahead too quickly). Wherever the player lands determines the category of the question theyโll be asked. The person to their left draws the top card from the relevant deck and reads out the appropriate question – kids get the top question, adults get the bottom one. Younger children receive three multipleโchoice answers, while older kids and adults must rely on their knowledge alone. A correct answer earns another roll of the die and another chance to advance; a wrong answer means staying put until the next turn. The first player or team to reach the centre space wins.
Overall, we feel that Cheatwell Games Travel Family Quiz Night is a superb allโround family trivia game that genuinely works for all ages.
