Dice Dice Baby, Dice Dice Baby, let’s roll. No, I’m not getting the lyrics to a 1990s rap song wrong, I’m talking about the dice-bluffing game Dice Dice Baby. Although you probably do have the song bouncing around your brain right now, you might even be humming along or even singing it! But this game is more than just a catchy title; it’s a masterclass in simple yet engaging gameplay that’s as addictive as it is competitive.
Dice Dice Baby is a dice game for 2-4 players, age 8+. It has a playing time of approximately 20-40 minutes. An easy to learn and quick to play dice-bluffing game where babies are wild!
In the box:
- 4 Sets of Five Dice
- 4 Dice Cups
- Instructions
The premise of the game is straightforward: players roll their dice in secret, then bluff (or tell the truth – if they dare) about the results to outsmart their opponents. It’s a game of wits and nerve, where the bold thrive and the meek… well, they might just surprise you with their cunning. Can you deceive your friends and family? Will you be able to spot a liar? Roll the dice and find out.
In the box are 4 good quality, easy to hold dice cups. There are also 20 dice; 4 sets of 5, with each set being a different colour. The dice are indented with the numbers rather than printed, but in poor light can be hard to see.
The rules are so easy to pick up that you’ll be rolling and bluffing in no time at all, but with enough depth to keep you coming back for more.
Playing is simple. All players place their dice in their cups, give them a shake and put them on the table still covered by their cup. Each player can take a peek at their own dice, being careful not to let other players see them. The starting player then makes a bid; they might think that there are 4 threes on the table between all the players dice. The next player then must increase that bid or call a bluff. When a bluff is called, all dice are revealed and the loser loses a dice. The game continues until there is one player left with dice and wins the game.
Overall, this is a simple game of bluff and is lots of fun to play. It’s a game that encourages laughter, cheers, and the occasional gasp of disbelief as players reveal their true rolls. It’s a social game, one that gets people talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company – isn’t that what game nights are all about and what makes a good game?
It is a very simple game to learn and play but lots of fun. A fun game of bluff, luck and strategy. And it can be played anywhere.
The components are good quality, although I think the indentations could benefit from having a colour added to make them easier to read, especially when trying to peek under your cup in poor lighting.
I mentioned earlier that babies are wild, I wasn’t referring to feral kids! The dice only have the numbers 1-5 on them, with the sixth side having the image of a babies face. The baby face is wild and can be used as any number.
A quick and fun game that is addictive to play and an excellent starter for family game nights. Word to your mother (as Vanilla Ice would say).
